These are the terms for using Blackbox. They're written in plain language because nobody reads legalese. By downloading or using Blackbox, you're agreeing to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
Blackbox is a puzzle game made by Shapes & Stories LLC, a California company. By using the app, you're granted a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use it on devices you own. That's a fancy way of saying: you can play the game, but you don't own it.
Blackbox uses Game Center for achievements and leaderboards, and iCloud to sync your progress across devices. Both are Apple services, governed by Apple's own terms. Shapes & Stories LLC has no control over what Apple stores or how they process it. For details, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
Nobody wants a list of rules, but here it is. Please don't:
Basically: play the game, enjoy it, tell your friends about it.
Everything in Blackbox - the puzzles, the design, the sounds, the visuals, the challenge mechanics, all of it - is owned by Shapes & Stories LLC. Using the app doesn't transfer any ownership to you. The Blackbox name, logo, and related marks belong to Shapes & Stories LLC as well.
Some features in Blackbox are paid through the App Store. All purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple — no payments are processed by Shapes & Stories LLC directly. Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policy, since your payment information never passes through Blackbox.
Prices may change. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn them off in your App Store settings.
Blackbox doesn't have accounts, doesn't ask for personal information, and doesn't knowingly collect data from children. If you're under 13 (or under the applicable age in your country), you should only use Blackbox with a parent or guardian's permission. If a parent or guardian believes their child has somehow provided personal information, reach out at [email protected] and it will be deleted promptly.
Blackbox is built to be reliable and fun, but the app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by applicable law. There's no guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or that every puzzle will work on every device and OS version. Things break sometimes. Fixes come as fast as possible.
If you're in the EU or another jurisdiction that provides statutory consumer guarantees, nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Also not covered: damage to your device. If you throw your phone across the room, put it in the freezer, or hold it underwater trying to solve a puzzle, that one's on you.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Shapes & Stories LLC won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Blackbox. Total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you've actually paid for it. This does not affect any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including EU consumer protection law.
Blackbox is made by a small, independent team. If something's wrong, please reach out at [email protected] before taking any formal action. Most issues can be resolved with a conversation, and that's always the preferred first step.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles. If you're an EU consumer, you retain any mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of residence, and nothing in these terms affects your right to bring a claim in your local courts.
These terms may be updated from time to time. When that happens, the "Last Updated" date at the top will change. Continued use of Blackbox after changes means you accept the updated terms. For significant changes, expect a heads-up through the app.
Your privacy matters. For details on what data Blackbox collects and how it's handled, see the Privacy Policy.
