I built Blackbox with privacy as a core principle. I collect minimal data, I don't use advertising trackers, I don't sell anything to anyone, and most of your data never leaves your device.
Anonymous Usage Data
I collect basic analytics to understand how people use Blackbox and to fix bugs. This includes:
Important: This data is anonymous. I can't connect it back to you personally, and I never try to.
Location (Optional Features)
Some special features use your location. This location data is stored only in your iCloud and synced across your devices - it never goes to my servers and I never see it. You control it entirely through iOS location permissions.
Game Center
If you use Game Center, Apple handles that data through their system. I only see what Game Center publicly shows (usernames, achievements, leaderboards).
I use a few carefully chosen services to help me run Blackbox. Here's what each one does:
I use Firebase for analytics, crash reporting, push notifications, and performance monitoring. Firebase collects your anonymous UUID, device info, usage patterns, and crash reports. I've configured it to NOT use IDFA.

I only see this information when you actively reach out.
This helps me avoid interrupting you with prompts and notifications when you're busy or less likely to want them. All processing happens on your device - nothing gets sent to ContextSDK's servers. It analyzes things like your motion, battery level, and screen brightness entirely locally to determine better timing.
Privacy-first analytics. All identifiers are automatically anonymized on your device before being sent. I use this to understand which features are popular and to ensure challenges aren't broken.
Delete Everything: Delete the app. Your iCloud data can be managed in iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud.
Notifications: Manage in iOS Settings > Blackbox > Notifications, or configure more granularly within the app itself.

If you're in the EU or California, you have the right to request information about what data I collect and to request deletion. However, since most data I collect is anonymous and can't be tied back to you personally, there's usually nothing I can identify as "yours" to delete or provide.
